Managing in-room features

Within SignalWire Work you have some important capabilities to help you manage the flow and content presented during your meetings.  Some important concepts to understand include:

Grant Moderator

As moderator, you are an "owner" of your room.  There are times you may want to delegate moderator privileges to others whom you don't want to share your moderator PIN with.  This may be a leader or project manager from a vendor or customer who may want to manage parts of their own team's participation in the conference.

Instructions

To grant moderator privileges:

  • Hover over the participant panel for that participant in the Video Layout.
  • Choose the Participant menu in the upper right.
  • Enable Grant Moderator. You can disable this privilege by toggling the same menu item.

Instructions

Grant Screen Sharing

Within SignalWire Work, screen sharing can be set up as an explicit privilege to prevent others from sharing inappropriate content during calls (a phenomenon often referred to as "Zoom bombing").

To explicitly grant screen sharing privileges to an individual participant:

  • Hover over the participant panel for that participant in the Video Layout.
  • Choose the Participant menu in the upper right.
  • Enable Grant Screen Sharing. You can disable this privilege by toggling the same item.
ClipEEze

ClipEEze are short audio or video media clips played during a conference by moderators (and, when enabled, guests) to highlight, accentuate, or applaud statements or events during a conference. Typically, these media clips may reinforce company slogans or corporate culture.

Examples of times to use ClipEEze:

  • welcoming everyone to a meeting
  • expression of a good idea
  • applause during a statement of recognition
  • to lighten up an otherwise dark moment
  • to pull back up to a higher level discussion
  • saying "Goodbye" to end the meeting

Instructions

To enable or disable use guest participant use of ClipEEze during a conference:

  • On the Main menu at the bottom center of the screen, click the Settings menu
  • On the Room Settings tab, click the toggle called either Disable ClipEEze or Enable ClipEEze.  The button is an action, not a status.  For example, the presence of the Disable ClipEEze button means that ClipEEze is enabled for guest participants and clicking the button will disable ClipEEze

For guest participants to enable or use ClipEEze:

  • On the Main menu at the bottom center of the screen, click the Settings menu
  • On the My Settings tab, click Play ClipEEze.  If it is not already present, the ClipEeze pane appears on the right side of the screen.
  • Click away from the Settings menu
  • From the ClipEEze pane, click a desired ClipEEze to play

The uploading of ClipEEze is an administrator feature in Cantina, not a moderator feature.

Second Source

As a moderator, you may choose to add other content to calls.  While screen sharing is an interesting way to incorporate application content, a "Second Source" can be used to incorporate content from other physical devices connected to your computer.  Document cameras, for example, have been used with SignalWire Work to display physical documents (rather than electronic documents that can be shared through application sharing) as source material during conferences.

Instructions

To add a second source:

  • On the Main menu at the bottom center of the screen, click the Settings menu
  • On the My Settings tab, click Add Second Source.  The Select Second Source window appears
  • Select the desired devices
  • Click Add to Call

Tips

Tip:  It is often helpful to grant the "floor" to document cameras for video layouts which allocate a larger participant panel for a participants that has the "floor."
