Identifying yourself

If you’ve never used SignalWire Work before in any browser, SignalWire Work prompts you for your name and email address.

Instructions

To continue:

  • Enter your full name and email address.
  • Click Enter.

You should use a name and email address that you would like to share with other conference participants. This prompt is not a request for security credentials or authentication with any other service. (The security steps happen separately.)

For example, this information is used for the "banner" (often called a "lower-third" in among media professionals) that is displayed with either your video feed or avatar during conferences.

Tips

  • When selecting an email address to display, pick an email address that has a globally recognized avatar set up on gravatar.com. SignalWire Work uses gravatar.com to display a custom image when you mute your video feed during a conference.
Granting permissions to your browser

Because SignalWire Work uses your device's camera and microphone to participate in conferences, there are two layers of permissions required for operation of SignalWire Work:

  • Permissions from your operating system to allow your Web browser to access the computer and microphone
  • Permissions from your Web browser to enable your SignalWire Work domain to take advantage of those operating system permissions

In most cases, the process works smoothly and visiting SignalWire Work walks you through the steps you need to take.  If you face any problems, there is a detailed article that can help you resolve permissions issues.

Here are a few examples across popular browsers and operating systems.

If your browser and device are not listed, feel free to review the instructions for a similar device. Then, proceed to next section.
