Do not disturb
In addition to use for conference calls, SignalWire Work has been used extensively in remote work settings, often replacing physical "open office" floor plans of the past. As such, users may choose to remain "present" in a virtual room even if they are not actively participating in a meeting.
The SignalWire Work "Do not disturb" feature allows remote workers to establish their presence as well as their immediate availability for collaboration if required, but allows them stay focused on their work rather than in constant side-chatter. The concept is that individual users can simultaneously "mute" and "deafen" their feeds, so they cannot be heard, nor can they hear anyone else.
Participants with Do not disturb enabled are depicted with a red border around their participant panels, as well as fist icon to "knock" on their panel.
The screen below depicts one participant in "Do not disturb' mode.
To enter into Do not disturb mode:
- From the Main menu, hover over the Do Not Disturb (-) icon
- Click Enable. This button is a toggle. To disable Do Not Disturb, click the same icon when it is labelled Disable.
To knock on a participants panel to get their attention:
- Hover over the participant's panel in the video layout and click the fist icon.
When someone knocks on your panel while you are in Do not disturb mode, you can either return to the conference or dismiss the request.
Do not disturb is just one of several features of SignalWire Work designed for remote work beyond ordinary conferencing.
