# setPositions

> setPositions method for the RoomSession class.

### setPositions

* **setPositions**(`params`): `Promise<void>`

Assigns a position in the layout for multiple members.

#### Parameters

**`params`** `object`

Object containing the parameters of the method.

**`positions`** `VideoPositions`

Mapping of member IDs and positions to assign.

#### Returns

`Promise<void>`

#### Permissions

* `room.set_position`

You need to specify the permissions when [creating the Video Room Token](/docs/apis/rest/video/room-tokens/create-room-token) on the server side.

#### Example
