# Remove the resource from a phone number

DELETE https://%7BYour_Space_Name%7D.signalwire.com/api/fabric/phone_number_addresses/{id}

Removes the resource from a phone number's channel, so inbound calls or messages on that channel no longer reach it. The number stays in your project, the resource is not deleted, and the address remains with `resource_id` set to `null`, so it still appears in [List phone number addresses](/docs/apis/rest/phone-number-addresses/list-phone-number-addresses). ## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (basic auth, required) — SignalWire Basic Authentication using Project ID and API Token. The client sends HTTP requests with the Authorization header containing the word Basic followed by a space and a base64-encoded string of project_id:token. The project ID will be used as the username and the API token as the password. Example: ``` Authorization: Basic base64(project_id:token) ```

- `id` (string, required) — Unique ID of a phone number address.

## Response

### 204

There is no content to send for this request, but the headers may be useful.

## Errors

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Access is unauthorized.

### 404 Not Found Error

The server cannot find the requested resource.

  - Allowed values: `Not Found`

### 500 Internal Server Error

An internal server error occurred.
